Specific action plan on marine mammals

Several initiatives have been taken to protect marine mammals in the St. Lawrence estuary, and a number of government, municipal and community stakeholders have acquired particular expertise and are currently working in this area. Consequently, the actions proposed in this intervention plan focus mainly on aspects that have not been addressed by other bodies and for which the Comité ZIP and its partners have the necessary expertise. Following a preliminary analysis and meetings between the steering and support committee members, two areas of intervention were identified : sea observation activities between Baie-Comeau and Pointe-des-Monts and navigation on the north shore of the St. Lawrence Estuary as well as the development of the maritime trail on the northern shore of the estuary (La Route bleue des baleines).
