Fisheries and Oceans Canada established a freshwater Aquatic Invasive Species (AIS) monitoring program for aquatic invasive species (AIS) in the St. Lawrence River, which began in 2018. The data in this database are from 2018 - 2019 from the Quebec Region. The objectives of this program are to detect new AIS as quickly as possible, to track their dispersal and to minimize the risks of introduction and dispersal of these species through awareness and rapid response.
The freshwater aquatic invasive species monitoring program focuses on six species, including four pelagic crustaceans and the veliger larvae of two dreissenid mussels. For more information, please see the data context.
