Attention FragÎles undertook a broad environmental planning and consultation process on the Magdalen Islands territory between 2010 an 2012, in collaboration with members of the Groupe de référence en environnement (GRE). Thirty-five organizations coming from the economic, social, cultural an environmental sectors took part. Out of this work came the Strategic environmental intervention plan for the Magdalen Islands territory (PSIE in French), whose aim was to allow local and regional stakeholders to base their policies and actions on a coherent and shared strategic vision for the Magdalen Islands, as well as to provide a guideline for action on the territory. The plan includes: a detailed environmental profile of the territory, an overview of environmental actions that have been carried out, an assessment that prioritizes the most important territorial risks and challenges; ten general directions as well as a series of options and strategic interventions to address the challenges identified. The final version of the PSIE was completed in 2012, and an online platform was created. A summary was produced in 2014 in order to help local collaborators take ownership of the plan. The PSIE was also used as grounds for tabling an environmental policy by the Communauté maritime des Îles-de-la-Madeleine in 2016.
